We absolutely love a design challenge! Our homeowners needed a new refrigerator and when it was delivered, they realized that their kitchen layout was so bad that they couldn’t even squeeze the refrigerator into the opening without hoisting it over the island. Now imagine trying to cook!
At first they were just going to change the island shape, new floors and add some extra pantry storage in the old breakfast nook. But we had a better idea – open it up!
First, we removed a few non-structural walls in our way – the foyer closet, a useless decor shelf by the front door and then the half wall that completely blocked the front of the house from the back. This allowed for a much easier entry overall plus a view of who’s coming in the door. We kept the longer wall and extended it to become the main cooking area of the kitchen. Then we added a large eat in island and extra storage with a pantry and coffee bar combo.
New tile flooring throughout the house, new light fixtures, new appliances and our clients are thrilled with what feels like a brand new home!
